Traveling to Chelsea Notes Today!

Traveling has always been one of the most fun-filled, exciting, entertaining and most of the time informative activity that you can totally enjoy by yourself or with your family and friends.

I was not one of those women who adored being pregnant.....in fact, I would say I more than mildly hated it. I cannot imagine life without my precious baby girl (and I will do it all again at some point sooner than later) but I have to say I found the process horrifying.

The title of this blog comes from the notion that very often during my pregnancy, I felt like a human pressure cooker. It also stems from the fact that motherhood comes with enormous pressures and cooking (for me) is a great therapy and stress reliever.

In "celebrityville" pregnant is the new skinny and it's infuriating. I thought I was supposed to gain weight for a healthy pregnancy? When did 32 pounds of pregnancy weight become shameful? And why, at 4.5 months post pregnancy and 6 pounds to go, do I feel like I'm at the back of the bounce-back pack?

I started to be afraid to put anything in my mouth without fully understanding the implications to my unborn child. Most prenatal nutrition books read (to me) like medical journals - a confusing hodgepodge of information that was often too exhausting to get past chapter one.

So, as with many points of transition in my life, I began writing and when I was done writing, I started cooking. I wanted comfort and I found it by cooking wholesome recipes from my Grammy, from my Mom, from friends near and far, and I realized something. Baby books aside, I could make wholesome versions of my favorite recipes (all while enjoying the comfort of familiar smells and tastes) and I could feel GOOD about it.

May you find a laugh or two in the ramblings of yours truly and most importantly, may you find comfort in the recipes, from my "cyber kitchen" to yours.
